Tonight’s LOST Recap – The Package

by Bay on March 30, 2010

If you are not caught up on Lost, cease and desist from reading this post or you will be spoiled!

This episode wasn’t the best (Like Sayid, I think Sun & Jin make for boring back stories) but it was a good plot pusher & had some great quotes (including one big one I mention at the end of this post).

So the episode starts off with ATL Sun & Jin and they aren’t married.  That was a pretty cool twist, it looked like we just had the “old Jin” on the plane (with his “button your shirt” domineering ways), but it turns out he is just trying to keep his romance with Sun on the DL.

Back on the island, we have a good ol’ Frank one liner “Hey…don’t talk about bacon.”  It was fun to see Sun in her old garden, and also good to see her temper flare up in frustration.  Wasn’t the scene where she wigs on Alpert in Korean the best?

Oh in the garden, Smocke tells Sun “I’d never make you do anything against your will” and yet he’s reaching out his hand to her.  Jacob supposedly doesn’t make people do anything against their will either, but his touch does seem to mark the candidates.  Not sure what this means, but just pondering that whole free will theme.

How great was it to see Keamy again?  I’ve mentioned before how much I love him so it was exciting to see him, the freighter crew and Mikhail(!) again.  For those of you who might not remember Mikhail, he was the eye-patch Dharma guy who seemed to have a million lives (until he finally died along with Charlie in the Looking Glass).

Why did Zoe seem to care about the “pockets of electromagnetism” on the island?  I know that Widmore needs Jin because he’s a candidate (and also because he holds the sway over Sun), but do they really need to know the electromagnetism info?  Maybe that will play in the ultimate demise of the island (leading to it being underwater)…or maybe that was totally obvious :)

My previous theory that Widmore is actually on team Smocke was wrong, clearly Widmore is on Jacob’s team, which is a relief.  It was heart breaking watching Jin flip through the pictures of Ji Yeon.  It was when Widmore mentioned his daughter that I suddenly realized that “the package” was probably Desmond.  Squee!!  I’ve been extremely impatient waiting for him to return, so I can’t wait to see him interact with Widmore, fulfill whatever his “destiny” is on the island, and hopefully get a Desmond in the ATL episode.

I realized in a prior recap I made a mistake and said that Sayid killed Keamy just as he did on the island.  Duh, he didn’t kill Keamy on the island, Ben did back in the Orchid Station.  Just a little disclaimer ;)

How cute is Jack now that he doesn’t have his Savior complex?  It was nice to see that his faith has returned.

There were a bunch of great quotes in tonight’s episode (including a really huge one):

“Why won’t you believe me?” -Ben  “Because you’re speaking.” -Ilana

After Sawyer asks Smocke why he needs to canoe to the other island and Smocke says that he can’t just fly over the ocean, Sawyer replies “No, cause that’d be ridiculous!” :)

After Sun flips on Richard in Korean,  Hurley: “I don’t think she wants to come.”

Biggest quote ever & you may have missed it…I had to rewind maybe four times.  In the walk-in fridge Keamy is taping Jin up in the chair and he says so fast “I can’t have you hear what’s about to happen to your island.”  What?!  In the ATL the island is under water and everyone is going on as if it never existed, so to hear someone mention it is *huge*.  And “YOUR island”???

Eek!  So what the heck does that mean?  Can’t wait until next week!  If you have any thoughts/comments/theories I’d love to hear them in the comments.  And if you’re blogging lost, please leave your link!

Clearly I need to watch the show a few more times. I watched it twice and didn’t catch what Keamy said to Jin. I just heard him talking about Jin and Sun’s forbidden love. That is major!

You picked up on some good quotes, too :)

I wrote my thoughts right after the show last night.

I don’t know…a lot of people don’t believe it bc the closed captioning just says “happen to you”. Check out this video:

As soon as I saw Desmond I thought of you. :) I thought you’d be happy with that.
I’m just trying to figure out why Locke can’t “Smocke” over to the Island.
I totally missed Keamy saying that! Good to know…maybe his wife will be the ultimate canidate!

I think my mama brain is starting to take over because there is SO much I don’t remember. I need a Lost marathon!! I am so happy to see Desmond, although I kind of hoped we would only see him on the sideways espisodes. That man can just never catch a break. Oh well, if he’s back, he better get to getting his shirt off.

I was also a little surprised that Jin and Sun weren’t married. Do you think that it was Sun’s father’s intention to have the money confiscated at customs? He is obviously too smart to not know that money like that would have to be claimed. Did he think that Keamy would just pop Jin anyway and get the money later? Or am I overthinking it?

Jack kind of annoys me at times, but I felt sorry for him last night. (In an I-know-this-is-just-a-tv-show-and-the-people-are-not-real kind of way.) He has been trying so hard since the beginning to do the right thing, but it always kind of seems like a crap shoot. And, who would know what to do in the situations he’s been in? There’s always so much mystery and everyone lies.

This was hilarious!! “Why won’t you believe me?” -Ben “Because you’re speaking.” -Ilana

Love your sympathy for Jack (I have a soft spot for him, and I love to see him cry) :) I like the new Jack.
Good idea on Paik probably setting Jin up. How would he not know that so much $ would have to be claimed.
You are the shirtless patrol! lol

Whitney March 31, 2010 at 9:18 am

Wow – he really said that to Jin about “your island?” I totally heard something else – something like, “I don’t want you to hear what’s going to happen to you… ” Or some such.

And this is my first recap read but lovin’ the use of the name, “Smocke.” Did you make that up? That’s great :)

He’s a video of the line in question. It’s a tough one, I feel like they jumbled it up in purpose: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUlptB4QUQ0

And I wish I could take credit for Smocke. It’s someone elses combo of Smoke Monster Locke. There’s also Flocke for Fake Locke ;)

I thought the reason Jin got stopped was because he was WEARING the watch which I guess was reason enough to then search him. I don’t think the money being confiscated was intended. (But then again maybe it was and that is part of the reason Sun’s dad cancelled her bank account.)

I didn’t catch that island reference. I saw someone else mention that this morning. I’m going to have to go back and watch again!

Here’s a crummy little video but it shows just that line so you can listen a few times and come to your conclusion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUlptB4QUQ0
It’s almost like they jumbled it on purpose just to give us something to speculate about. But you can’t deny that Paik had some ties to the island before and it definitely did exist since ATL Ben and his dad were on it in the 70′s…
Probably just wishful thinking, but I’d like to think I caught something huge :)

According to my closed captioning Keamy said:

“I’m gonna strap you here, just in case you figure out what’s about to happen to you. I can’t have you freaking out”.

Thanks for the cc! It’s such a shame that the cc doesn’t like up with my theory, but it has been known to be totally wrong in the past (when we first met “Mr. Eko” the cc was calling him “Miskerito”) but maybe I’m just desperate for something that wasn’t there ;)
Guess we just have to wait and see!

I was hoping you were right :) That would be cool :)

I totally heard the same thing! I couldn’t figure out why in the world Keamy would say such a thing and then there was nothing else to show us that it related to anything, but I guess that is pretty typical Lostie logic. I backed it up twice and still heard it. Even the best CC has been known to be wrong at times and I think this was one of those!
