Been wondering where I was? Well, I like to hope you have been.
No, I haven’t been in the throes of despair, mourning Lost. I have been at the shore house for a couple weeks, very cut off from society. We have a summer shore rental that we went in on with another family (we take turns with the weeks here & there) & I asked if we could purchase an internet connection with our Comcast cable package. Last year we were here and I was trying to blog my Acme deals with a meager cell phone connection (maybe that was I got burnt out writing Acme deals? lol) So this year I resolved to just pay the money and get the cable connection.
Of course, nothing is that simple–it’s been two weeks of being on the phone with Comcast trying to work out why the internet just doesn’t want to work for me here. As I’m sure almost everyone does, I hate talking to operators, waiting on hold, getting false promises, blah blah blah. So for right now I have the internet working, but every morning I have to shut down the modem & my computer and restart them both and do sundry other steps to get it to work for a few hours. Sigh.
But obviously my whole trip isn’t sitting in the house trying to get the internet hooked up; we’ve been having a great time. How convenient for us that there’s been kind of a heat wave going on, which has made for some great beach days (especially Memorial Day weekend). Rayna loves the beach (almost a little too much, if we try to head out to the car she cries “Shells!!! shelllsss!!!” because she wants to go walk on the beach for shells instead), I have turned about 6 shades darker, even Buddie is getting in on the fun.
Yesterday Marc decides to take Buddie for a swim in the ocean (still on leash of course) and Bud was like a mad dog, attacking the waves, frolicking, etc. Only we should have realized that the “wait 30 minutes after eating to swim” rule also applies to canines, as he promptly yakked all his kibble on the beach. Ewww.
Another lesson learned? Rayna can now escape from her pack & play. OH. MAN. Granted, I’m sure she’s had the ability to do that for some time, but she just dared to try the other day at nap time and now we can barely get her to stay in bed. I’m hoping that this skill doesn’t transfer to her crib at home, but Marc is sure that it will. It was actually hysterical the day it first happened, it was naptime, and I heard Rayna stirring in her room but I wanted to quick take Buddie outside before I got her up. Then I hear a loud knocking from the room and I’m thinking “Is she knocking on the wall? That sounds really loud.” Then I hear what sounds like the doorknob moving from side to side and I’m like oh no!!! It can’t be!!! And when I open the door Rayna comes running out full speed ahead with her shoes on. On the right feet and everything. Oh and she turned her white noise off. So out she runs saying “Shoes on!! shoes on!! Bye-bye!!”
Finally, I wanted to let you know that I have been blogging for the local Avalon Golden Inn hotel. You may remember my post about the trip I went on to the Golden Inn for their Girlfriend’s Weekend. Well while I was there I guess I impressed them with my local knowledge (“I’m going to run to Fred’s to get a bottle of wine!”
) and I’ve been hired to write some blog posts about local vacation tips for them. Check out their blog here and you can read a bit more about the area if you’re interested. And why not follow them on twitter or facebook as well? They have some great specials going on all the time and no, I wasn’t paid to say that!
So that’s a little update about what’s been going on with me. I think we’re only going to stay down here for a couple more days, so I’ll be back soon. But why not follow me on twitter or facebook too? It’s easier for me to update those often as I can use them easily on my iPhone. I tried to blog from my phone using the WordPress app and it took a ridiculously long time. This post took me like an hour!

I will hide the cat and we can have a blogging party. Come on over
The Golden Inn has been really promoting your blog in their ads in my local paper. Maybe I’ll pay them a visit when I am in Avalon next month.
