Yes, I couldn’t get it together enough to say Merry Christmas on time. As I’m sure it has for you as well, this season has just totally FLOWN by. Like, flown right on past me. I managed to scrape together a few Christmas cards, get the shopping done in time and bake a few cookies, but I didn’t get to enjoy as much this year. I think it’s just been due to the blues I’ve been experiencing while being in home-limbo.
Rayna, on the other hand, has been having a BLAST this Christmas season, thank God! She really started to “get” what Christmas is about, and she wasn’t afraid of Santa too much. She wanted to “Talk to Santa a minute” every time we saw him somewhere, and when he’d ask what she wanted for Christmas she would nervously blurt out “toys!!”
One of the things she has been wanting lately is a backpack, mostly because she loves Dora and wants to be as much like her as possible (which is pretty annoying, because Dora always wears shorts = a problem when it’s cold outside) so Marc & I managed to find a backpack at Toys R Us that looks *exactly* like Dora’s, it even has the little map in the side pocket. So we bought it right away, and then all of a sudden Rayna started talking about she would like Santa to bring her a backpack “with map”! So we were happy about that.
We took some video footage of Rayna on Christmas morning and I just had to share this one video. My sister Jessica bought Rayna some lovely boots and clothes for Christmas, and while Rayna gave the boots a whirl, she was less than enthused about the clothes. Gotta love how kids don’t know how to feign enthusiasm!
So our Christmas was pretty good, Rayna was very happy with all of her gifts, Buddie is recovering well (post on that soon), and we’re still just waiting on any house news. I hope that you had a great holiday and since we know my track record for getting blog posts up on time, let me just say Happy New Year right here and right now! God bless!
