Back when Rayna first started using her highchair I did the first-time-mom-thing and bought BabyGanics cleaning spray for wiping down her highchair tray. Cleaning the highchair is one of those little joys that those of us parents of little ones have to do three times a day. So I wanted to be sure I was using a cleaning product that was safe enough for her food to be sitting on, but I also didn’t want to take the tray off and over to the kitchen sink every. single. time.
Once Marc started using his highchair I had figured out the world’s easiest spray cleaner, and yup it is 100% safe, it works and it’s almost free. All you need to have on hand (if you don’t already) is:
Use an empty spray bottle (if you don’t have an old one to use, then you are not a hoarder like me…I mean, you can buy one anywhere, for about $1) and fill it up about 1/4-1/3 of the way with white vinegar. Then fill the rest up with tap water. Boom! Highchair spray.
If the smell of vinegar offends you, you can add a drop of essential oil in whatever scent you prefer. I’ve heard that people like orange, lemongrass or lavender, but I don’t bother. The vinegar smell dissipates in seconds.
After the major mess all over the highchair, just spray it all down with the spray and then wipe it up. Baby Marc loves his ketchup and this spray always works. So now I’m not purchasing any unnecessary organic cleaners and I can keep the tray out of the sink (which for some reason is one of my pet peeves).
Of course, I use this spray for the countertops and the tables as well, but if you are looking for a super safe and easy way to clean your child’s eating area, you found it!

You know natural cleansers are WAY more cheaper, last longer, and do the job, in addition to being safe. I wish I knew that years ago, doh!
I think it’s so important to be as green as possible when cleaning especially with little ones around. Thanks for sharing these tips.

That’s what I use for EVERYTHING! I dont dilute it as much as I should so it’s a little stinkier, but it doesnt hurt anything! And I’m trying something new soon… which I will also be posting on my blog, too!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! That is one of my least favorite tasks, as it is awkward to wash it over the sink because of the size. It’s so nice to meet you.
I love a good vinegar and water mixture! And…it is cheap:)
I usually put some tea tree oil in mine to make a fresher scent, but I love the idea of lavender!
I hadn’t thought about making a spray for this task. I’ve always just scrubbed down with hot water. Maybe this will save me some elbow grease!
Love this!! I have heard of it but never knew how much of each to put in, Thanks Queen Mother
