#Vlogmom – Are you into your heritage?

by Bay on February 21, 2013

Welcome to Queen Mother Blog! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This week’s Vlogmom topic is actually one that I asked.  I want to know what your family background is, if you’re interested in genealogy at all, and then why or why not.  Ok, does that sound a bit pushy and also like a potential topic for a very long high school essay?  Don’t answer that, it’s too late, I already asked ;)

In my latest vlog I discuss why I’m into the whole genealogy thing.  It basically has to do with me being kind of a geek who likes research and mysteries:

I really do want to know if you are into this or not.  I’m sure no one is really going to post their own response video on Youtube (though that would be amazing if you did!), but just comment and let me know what your story is like.  And be sure to check out the other vlogmoms here:

I’m not into it at all. I have a friend who is and get told me all sorts of things she found out about her family. It was cool but I just have no interest in digging any deeper into my family history than I already know. Is that a bad thing?

I’m into it! :) I’ve always thought it interesting who might have walked these shores before me, and how if each of them hadn’t lived precisely as they did, I wouldn’t be here today.

I love it – and I TOTALLY think you should apply to DAR. I’ve always wanted to know what they do in their meetings :)

I twisted the question around so I’ll tell you here that – yes, I’m interested; but I don’t take the time to pursue it. Both sides of my family have pretty meticulous records back through European countries. So I listed to stories about it and look at things others have collected, but I don’t dig into it myself.
