This looks RIDICULOUSLY like a LOST promo

I still can’t place where in the grieving process I am for LOST. I might still be in denial, because I refuse to take down the Lost tab up on the top of the blog here (or maybe I’m just too lazy. Actually that’s really what it is). Whatever the case may be (Lost inside joke alert!!) I am willing to pick up a few new fall shows.

I hate to admit just how much television I watch, but we DVR lots and then watch them together mostly on Wednesday & Thursday nights. These are the shows that we tape:

- Survivor – Say what you will, we’ve been watching Survivor since day one. There’s always someone you love to hate, and twists & turns galore. Plus if you DVR you can fast forward the reward & immunity challenges.
- Criminal Minds – It can be a grim show, but like LOST what makes it for me are the characters. Derek Morgan = hotness, Reid = the favorite, Garcia = a little annoying, but likeable, etc. This show also fills my need for a crime show–I used to watch tons of them, but I let the rest of them go.
- Modern Family – I was reluctant to watch MF at first, but Marc was really into wanting to watch “a comedy” so we started & yes, it’s hysterical. Phil makes the show.
- The Office – Who doesn’t love The Office?
- And because everyone needs a show that makes them feel a little guilty, a reality show that will go unnamed that may or may not take place in my home state

Ok, that actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. We occasionally watch other shows that you can watch just here or there like “Undercover Boss” (& hey, when is Shark Tank coming back??)

Since none of those shows are new, I was ready to pick up a new one to help ease my LOST pain. I surprised even myself by deciding to watch The Event. Talk about a show that looks like it’s blatantly trying to capture LOST viewers (a la Flash Forward or that wretched V), but I gave it a chance.

And you know what? I like it. Yes, there are aspects that are worthy of an eye roll. In the pilot episode there’s drama on board an airplane (and a plane pretty much disappearing) that felt like LOST rip-offs. The jumping around in time sequence is also a bit jarring/annoying, but I’m willing to roll with it because it does add to the suspense. And unlike LOST, The Event seems to be answering questions quickly (yes, “they” are aliens, but it doesn’t seem lame…yet). I can’t say how the characters are going to play out for me but so far I like the main Josh Ritter character & Blair Underwood as the Pres.

So yeah, I guess that’s the extent of my television viewing for the fall. Are you watching The Event? Is there a different show that I should be watching?

Well I’ve had time to think more about the finale and the utter shock and emotion I felt last night has sunk in a bit.

I am an emotional mess about my favorite show coming to an end after my 6 years of obsessive loyal viewership. Through it all, I’ve had family and friends complain about the show, whether it was the “ludicrous” idea of a monster on the island, or if the time travel just got too much for them. I would always staunchly defend my show, because in my eyes I was just along for the ride.

Scrolling through Twitter and Facebook last night and this morning, I read all of the strong opinions, mostly negative. It makes me a bit sad that some of my friends feel as if they “wasted six years” of their life, etc. but I can’t deny the disappointment that I also felt when we learned that the ATL was a sort of afterlife meetup for our Losties to find each other after death and move on together.

Yes, I wanted more answers. Why was Walt special? What was the purpose of the Hanso Foundation, the Dharma Initiative, Charles Widmore? It’s been fun to sit back and think about all of the island mythology and wonder whether or not what we were being told about Jacob was the truth.

People are unhappy that Darlton and others connected with the show are using the “cop-out” that Lost has always been a show about the characters and not necessarily about the mysteries and mythology. Does it sound like a cop-out to me? Sure, I can see how it sounds like laziness on their part….But why am I satisfied with the ending?

A while ago I “ran into” an old friend from middle school on Facebook and he wrote on my wall asking if I was still a fan of Star Trek and The Beatles. It was hilarious to me that those two things were what he remembered about me, and then I realized that yes, I am still a big fan of both Star Trek and The Beatles. (stick with me)

What I love about Star Trek is that we have our beloved characters, interacting with the unknown, each other and their own selves. I love Star Trek for the characters. For Mr. Spock’s raised eyebrow, Kirk’s confidence and skirt-chasing ways, Scotty’s hot-headedness and unending love for the ship. The outrageous environments and situations they find themselves in are amusing and interesting, but at the end of the show our crew is back on the ship together, having learned something about themselves in the process.

What I love about Lost is the characters. The way they started their lives together with distrust, serious relationship issues and checkered pasts. Jack with his savior complex, Sayid’s quest for redemption and Locke’s need to be needed. The outrageous situations on the island have been more than interesting, dare I say fascinating but at the end of the show, our Lostaways need each other. In order to transcend their broken lives, they must battle their demons and live together or die alone.

It all sounds cliche and cheesy, but it’s my blog, my opinion, right? Now for the Beatles. What’s my favorite album? Abbey Road, hands down. Yes, there are better singles on other albums, but there’s something like all the short songs, all so different and random, blending together in such a seemless way that you just can’t play one without playing the next.

Every time I checked my DVR to make sure the finale was set to tape (don’t laugh, I’m OCD) I looked at the title “The End” and sang that one line from the Abbey Road swan song with the same name: “In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” How fitting, right? In the end, as our characters face their deaths it’s not about “the numbers”, it’s not about the Black Rock or Dharma stations. They come to peace with their lives by remembering each other and remembering love.

I can see the frustration that many of you have with the ending of the show. We have all invested years of our lives thinking about the show and theories, etc. I think you have every right to feel however you feel, but I can honestly say that I am happy with The End.

So yes, this post is a total love-fest and as fruity as it gets. It contains no answers, but take it as my swan song to Lost.

For a couple theories that I really like, check out this post about how the ATL may have been Hurley’s gift to the castaways (I like the idea that his “island management style” is about giving instead of Jacob’s possessive hoarding style). This one seems a bit more flawed, but I like the scenarios that the ATL provided our characters.

And of course, if you have theories or thoughts I’d love to hear them!

Ok, so I’m not even going to bother with the whole picture, spoiler warning, etc.

It is 1:35 in the morning, I technically can’t say “Tonight’s Lost” but since this is the last time I’m able to say it, I will

I’m going to wait and give an actual recap post when I have more time to think. This is really just my initial impressions.

I’m not going to say I was disgusted and disappointed in the ending of my favorite show, but I also can’t say that it lived up to my expectations and fulfilled my every wish. It is just very different from what I had believed we were going to have, that I’m kind of in a state of shock.

What I think we learned in tonight’s episode is that the ALT/ATL/Alternate Time Line was really an afterlife…ok, c’mon, PURGATORY that the characters had to work through after their deaths in order to move on to the other side. What doesn’t make sense to me is, what is the actual purpose of the island? We recently saw Michael on the island, and he led us to the reveal that the whispers are actually those that are stuck there and can’t move on. Why is it that Michael knows that he is dead, but is still stuck? Juliet died on the island and yet she was living in this alternate world, completely unaware until she connected with Sawyer. (Did that even make any sense?)

When did each of our Losties actually die? Now some of this is obvious, like Locke died in the hotel room after Ben strangled him (I did appreciate Ben’s apology to Locke outside of the church), Jack died in the bamboo field after suffering his MIB inflicted injuries, but what went on with Claire, Kate, Sawyer, etc.? Did the Ajira flight out of the island make it? The way Jack sees it fly overhead, it would seem to me that it made it, but we even see baby Aaron in the ATL, when did Aaron die? My head is about to explode.

I’m sure we are never going to be able to fully figure out a lot of the questions and mysteries of this show, but I’m hoping that given a bit of sleep and some more thought I can give you a true finale recap.

I’d love to hear your initial thoughts on whether you loved/hated this ending. I loved many parts, but ultimately this is what I wanted to see happen:

Our Losties, from Richard to Dharma-era to 815, were all brought to the island as candidates for the Jacob/MIB struggle over the “heart of the island” protection thing. When the fight comes down to Jack vs. MIB, Jack succeeds in destroying the island, while not killing MIB. All of the deaths, etc. are course corrected and flight 815 lands just as we saw it in the ATL, and our Losties come together in some type of big reunion (almost like what we had, but they’d be alive) where they became aware of their island past and connections, but were living happily in the present. Also flash to Richard growing old and living a normal life in modern society and MIB back in his body breathing in city air somewhere.

Ok, fantasy land over. Time for me to go to bed and return to the “reality” of our Lost ending tomorrow. We’ll talk more soon.

If you are not caught up on Lost, cease and desist from reading this post or you will be spoiled!

Well dear friends, this was our last episode. Last regular episode before the big two and a half hour finale on Sunday. Maybe it’s silly, but I’m really very sad about it! There’s no other tv show that has me staying up late, watching it twice (I’ve already admitted to doing that, right?) and then writing about all its little mysteries. So (tearing up) here is one of my last little recaps for ya!

Tonight’s episode was very well paced, nothing felt rushed and yet we got so much information. Once again we see Jack’s neck bleeding, and we see Desmond meddling around a bit by telling Jack that his father’s casket has been found and is being returned to Los Angeles. I’m not sure at all what purpose this will serve, but let me just jump around a bit here and say, I get the feeling that little David’s piano concert is going to be some type of awesome Lostie reunion that will close out the series. Jack asks David if his mom will be there (I’m still thinking Juliet!), Desmond rounds up Kate and presumably Hurley & Sayid, we’ve already seen Dogen at the conservatory with his son, Pierre Chang, Charlotte and Miles will be there (Miles asked Sawyer to go with him, so Sawyer will probably be guilted into attendance), Daniel wants to see Charlotte again, Charlie wants to see Claire again and we can assume Claire will come along with Jack….ok you get the picture. I’m very excited for this

Back to the episode, it was another “full circle” moment to see Jack sewing up Kate this time (remember she stitched up his back right after they first crashed?). Don’t hate me for kind of hoping that Kate was going to die there. She was pale, losing a lot of blood….I know, I’m brutal. But wait, I change my mind a little about Kate later on…

Did we see Richard Alpert die? Can’t be, they wouldn’t blow him off so nonchalantly, right? You know he’s one of my favorites, so I’m hoping he’s just stuck up in a tree somewhere The deaths we really did see were Zoe & Widmore. Zoe was a no-brainer, but Widmore’s is a bit more troubling. Was Ben just taking his revenge for Alex’s death and that’s all? Or do you think that he really wants to go kill “other people”? I want to think that Ben was just after Widmore and that is all. He’s too smart to believe Smocke’s silly promises like “you can have the island to yourself” (which later Smocke admits that he’s “going to destroy the island” so Ben should see through him immediately), I believe Ben is just manipulating Smocke the way he manipulated Locke.

How sweet was it to see Danielle? I always felt like she and Ben could have had a little love connection, both of them being Alex’s parental figures. It was really cute to see them together almost like a family in the ATL.

So was Jacob just a boy because Hurley had the rest of his ashes? That seems more than a little silly. When Jacob does have his full self back and he’s talking to his candidates, I thought it was such a powerful scene. They all seem so stunned to finally be with Jacob, getting some answers and here is where I finally crack a little and sympathize with Kate. When she asks why her name is crossed off the wall & Jacob says “because you became a mother.” I got a little lump in my throat. As Jacob explains to them, “none of you were doing just fine, you were all flawed. You were like me, all alone, looking for something.” So when Kate loved Aaron so completely, she was no longer a candidate. I love it!

Jack steps up, predictably, and Sawyer gets one of his good lines in there: “I thought that guy had a God complex before.” And almost hysterically, Jack happens to have a cup in his backpack. lol! Did you not at least smirk at that? Later on when I was reading the DarkUfo message boards I read the best comment ever: “The real candidate always carries around a cup. Even if he has had to rescue it from the sinking submarine and zip tightly in his backpack.” Hysterical!

So now Jack is the candidate, what do you think? Do you think he fails and the island is destroyed? After all, in the ATL, the island is underwater. I have no real ideas on how the island battle plays out, but I am sure that Desmond is the key to it all.

I also thought the final scene (where we see Ana Lucia, yay! And she’s kinda corrupt, which I like) was exciting and a cool set up for the finale. Whatever Desmond’s plan is, I’m all over it!

As usual, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! And if you blog about Lost, please leave me your link so I can come scope out your post.

Well then. I don’t seem to be the only one that doesn’t know how to “feel” about this episode. It was definitely an unusual episode, obviously since it didn’t include our Losties and was completely backstory. I loved getting all of that needed info, but I ultimately missed our regular cast. I wish this episode was spliced in as flashbacks and not a total stand alone. That said, let’s jump into it:

The poor mother getting her head bashed in after delivering the twins! I thought that was terribly violent for Lost; I didn’t think they had to be so brutal with it.

Weren’t those two young boys perfect likenesses for Jacob and the Man in Black? They really portrayed Jacob to be kind of a dummy, though. I’m sure it was just to show how naive and “good” he was, but it does put a little doubt in our heads that maybe Jacob is just following after the ramblings of a cuckoo mother and messing up a lot of lives in the process.

On the beach with young MIB, where did the game come from? I believe the mom is lying when she tells young MIB that she left the game for him. Maybe she wouldn’t have known about it if Jacob hadn’t told her? And now we know where Jacob gets his “bad” and “good” obsession, it all stems back to his mommy issues

Back in Season 1, when we first saw “Adam & Eve” many of us (especially those of us with Bible backgrounds) speculated that the island held the Garden of Eden, and that the Smoke Monster was some form of the angels protecting the opening to it. When the mom tells the twins “this is the reason you’re here” and she shows the tunnel of light, it just seems to confirm that old theory. Was that ever officially debunked? I thought that it was, but I’ll have to look into that more.

What makes MIB able to see dead people and Jacob can’t? The real mom says that Jacob can’t see her because she’s dead, maybe candidates can’t see the dead people? Ok, I just made that up, but doesn’t it seem like there’s something to do with who can and cannot see the apparition of young Jacob in the jungle? Smocke is curious as to why Richard doesn’t see him, and then seems amazed when Desmond and Sawyer both can.

The Mother tells MIB “you will never be able to leave this island”…Do you believe her? I seem to think she’s right, clearly she knew more about the ‘rules’ than the two boys and if there was a way off the island wouldn’t MIB have found it by now? What makes our crew any different than everyone else before?

I’m not sure I understand why MIB is so fixated on the electromagnetism so soon in the history here. Obviously there’s a million things MIB’s people have been doing in 30 years that we didn’t see, but did they exhaust all ship building techniques to realize they couldn’t get off the island? When the Mother asks how MIB knows “all this” he just explains that he knows because he’s special. Are things rushed and sloppy or is it just me in a bad mood? Either way, I admit it was pretty cool to see the Frozen Donkey Wheel

Do you think the Mother went into the ‘Eden tunnel’? (My new term, coined it here lol) She seems to know first-hand that what’s in there is worse than death. And then when she’s grateful to MIB for killing her, maybe she’s glad to finally be finished with the island? Another weird thing here was the drinking of the wine. The mom tells Jacob that “now you and I are the same.” Is drinking the wine almost like eating the fruit of the knowledge of good & evil? It would seem to me that Jacob knew what to do immediately, clearly the mom didn’t kill the whole camp and burn it down alone.

It was pretty cool to see the Smoke Monster emerge from the Eden tunnel. I was initially confused when we saw MIB’s dead body, but I quickly realized that Smokey is just able to take on the form of the dead, so that explains why we’ve seen him in this MIB body since then. Now we understand how MIB has had his humanity taken from him & in typical Lost fashion, we feel sorry for someone that we’ve been despising for a while. What do you think? Did you feel sorry for MIB now? I did throughout this episode & think that again the writers are still messing with us so we won’t have a clear decision on who is “good” and “bad”.

Not everyone seems to be fond of the Season 1 clip of Jack & Kate’s discovery of Adam & Eve in the cave. I thought the interspersing of Jacob burying his only two loved ones in the cave combined with our long lost season 1 confusion was really powerful. It reminded me of just how far we’ve come in this whole crazy story, and yet seeing Locke’s face we can’t help but feel suspicious of his season 1 self. Not sure if that made any sense, it’s getting late and I guess I’ve said enough!

One last totally silly thing: Did you like the Mother’s weird leg hair removal system? Is that some silly way of explaining how The Others always managed to look so hairless and fresh?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this episode, whether you liked it or not, or whether you have some awesome theory, let me know!

If you are not caught up on LOST cease and desist from reading this post or you will be spoiled!

Have you stopped crying yet? Ok, that’s an exaggeration, but really I was a mess during the whole submarine-killing-off-major-characters blitz attack. There was tons of little stuff in this ep, tons of big stuff, aah! I can’t believe it’s all going to be wrapped up this month. That alone makes me want to cry

There’s so much that isn’t going to make sense to us until we see the “whole picture”, like how the ALT interactions are all going to collide and how much each character knows of their ‘past life’. In the hospital, the dialogue and looks between Jack & Locke are very strange. But moving on…

Were you confused when Sayid says “Welcome to Hydra Island” to Jack? They weren’t cutting us any breaks with a two week gap in episodes, it took me a bit to realize that the last time we saw Jack he was blown away from the beach explosion and that Smocke must have paddled him over.

Forgive me if you are one of the few people who actually like Kate’s character, but I was kind of happy to hear Widmore talk so casually about off-ing her, like ‘well she’s not on the list” and then to see her face when Sawyer tells her that her name was crossed out. Then, to see her get shot was honestly amusing to me. (I know, I know, I’m terrible. I just could really do without her character messing up Jack, Sawyer, Juliet, Claire, Aaron, etc.)

Bernard = total stretch. I’m willing to go with almost everything the Lost writers throw at me, but emergency oral surgery? That was just the silliest, most contrived scene. So it served the purpose that maybe Desmond has already gotten a hold of Bernard or to really drive through Jack’s head that the 815′ers are all weirdly connected. Still. Painfully silly!

When Jack does visit Cooper, don’t you just love seeing him vegged out in the wheelchair? (Wow I’m totally vicious tonight! If it weren’t so late I’d have a glass of wine and relax, lol) It’s just that he was such an evil man to Locke, Sawyer and who knows who else, that it reinforces my theory that whatever the Losties have done in their pre-ATL timeline is affecting their ultimate life/happiness in the ATL.

Got any takers on the significance of the music box? It’s playing “Catch a Falling Star” which Claire wanted the adoptive parents to sing to Aaron, but not sure if I’m spacing out and missing some deeper meaning.

Sayid’s death was heartbreaking in slow motion; I loved that he redeemed himself, and it seems that his interaction with Desmond is what brought him around (PS- Can’t wait to see Desmond and happy to hear that he’s alive!). But of course the really heartbreaking scene was Sun & Jin dying together in the sub. I was disappointed that Jin wouldn’t just leave and save himself (and that Sun didn’t go crazy insisting he leave), but after his final “I won’t leave you. I will never leave you again.” I gave up that disappointment and accepted this scene for what it was. Me sobbing on the couch.

It seems that lately my husband always has some Lost quip he wants me to include “on the blog”, and he did say that Lost death scenes don’t have the same sting anymore, since the characters are still popping up in the ATL. He said that Lost is pretty much like the A-Team, no one really dies. It does soften the blow a bit now that we are seeing them again, but something about that little touching music they play during a character’s death scene gets me every time.

At the end of the episode, Jack is talking to Locke in the hallway and says “I can help you John, I wish you believed me.” We had just heard Locke mumble “I wish you believed me” earlier, and this seemed to stop him in his tracks. I’m back to wondering just how much ALT Locke knows about his previous island life.

Next week looks awesome with the Jacob/Man in Black action, and looks like we’re going to get some answers on the ‘young boy in the jungle’ thing. Totally loved seeing first season Locke talking about the “two sides, one light one dark” thing.

I’d l-o-v-e to hear your thoughts on tonight’s episode in the comments. And if you blogged about Lost, please feel free to drop your link so I can stalk out read your thoughts as well!

If you are not caught up on LOST cease and desist from reading this post or you will be spoiled!

I feel a little on the fence about tonight’s episode. There were great moments, but I was kind of expecting more, or maybe I should say that I just don’t know where I stand on some of the elements. It was a solid ep, but I feel like I won’t know how awesome or lame some scenes are until we know the ultimate ending to all of this. The sideways/ATL tonight was great as it was packed with Jack, Desmond, Sayid, Claire, Sawyer, Kate, Ben, Locke, Sun, Jin…Ilana! I guess you get the idea.

The beginning conversation between Smocke and Jack was cool, but I bet we all cringed when we heard him say that John Locke was “not a believer, he was a sucker.” Ouch. Then Jack has a great moment with Claire, where she shows her insecurity that everyone leaves her behind. But she also tells Jack that he is with Smocke and that Jack made that decision the moment he let Smocke talk to him. Do you believe that? I don’t, because we’ve seen this sort of thing before where a candidate talks to Smocke and then Jacob gets ahold of him and sets him straight (Richard). I think there is always a choice, like Hurley says, people can come back from the dark side (just over-reading into his Anakin reference, do you think that someone is going to switch over from the dark side just before dying, and then be “good” in the ATL/future?)

In the sideways flashes there was a weird moment with Locke being wheeled in to the ER next to Sun, with Sun yelling and clearly recognizing Locke. Seeing as later on it doesn’t seem like Sun is aware of her island life yet, I feel like this was just a red herring–probably just Sun recognizing Locke from the plane.

Desmond with Claire in the ATL: hello creeper! If I were Claire and had Desmond tailing me that way, I would run! Not follow him into a strange attorney’s office. But that leads us to having another nice Claire/Jack reunion right in front of David.

Can I just say, I love mini-Jack! David is so cute, I really hope that whatever the end is for us in this series that Jack is happy and still has David. Which reminds me, if you didn’t notice, I am back in the camp that the ATL is the ultimate end for our Losties. I know, I’ve flip-flopped on this many times, but I still think this could be the “end” that we are seeing. It’s too much to go on about here, but I can get into this with you in the comments if you’d like

The most frustrating thing tonight? Dear ol’ Des bloodied at the bottom of a well trying to bargain with Sayid. It was great to see Sayid showing a human side and hesitating a bit, but I can’t stand waiting to know what happened to Desmond. Last week during the previews we did see Sayid shoot a gun into the well so I can’t say that things look good, but I’m holding out hope! The defiant look Sayid gave Smocke (along with an “I’m lying to you” delay)…he must have something up his sleeve.

The Sun & Jin reunion was great! But…why did it have to be so short? The happiness quickly got squashed when Widmore gives the order to take our Losties hostage and start bombing Smocke & Jack. Whatever Smocke says I don’t believe that Jack is “with him’ now. I’m also in denial about the title of this episode.

The best parts of the night for me were the funny Frank-related quotes from Sawyer. Sawyer to Kate: “That pilot that looks like he stepped off the set of a Burt Reynolds movie”. Then on the boat when Sawyer’s talking to Frank and he calls him Chesty. LOL

There is no new Lost next week (next new episode is May 4th), just a repeat of one of the best episodes ever, Ab Aeterno. I’d love to hear your thoughts on tonight’s episode in the comments! And if you are talking Lost at your blog, please leave a link so I can come check out your post!

If you are not caught up on Lost, cease and desist from reading this post or you will be spoiled!

I wasn’t expecting to be a fan of a Hurley back-story (or ALT, ATL, sideways…what are we calling this?), but it was better than I thought it would be due to the addition of Libby!

Back when I first started blogging my Lost thoughts I had a few criteria for making an awesome episode (Richard Alpert, dead Losties showing up, etc.) This episode had a lot of those “old school Lost” elements didn’t it? Whispers and all. Here’s my thoughts:

Hurley & Libby must have had quite the love connection if Hurley is still talking to her grave after all these years! Really, he’s been on the island, off, and back again and he’s still pining for her? Whatever, this scene quickly leads to MICHAEL, who I’ve been missing for quite some time. I really think that his character got the shaft (and/or the actor for that matter) so it was good to see him.

But can he be trusted? Hurley just seems to be running blind, right into the arms of the Smoke Monster. Poor Ilana is blown to smithereens trying to keep the candidates safe and Hurley actually knows more to trample all over it? I think Hurley is a dummy and Jack’s going to have step up and “fix” things.

The Whispers. Really? Could that really be an “answer”? I don’t think Hurley’s little, “wait I know what they are, they’re trapped deadies” made any sense. Whenever we heard the whispers before it was right before the “others” appear.

Big question: Who is the little smirking boy in the jungle? He’s a different boy than last time (last time he looked like a little Jacob, this boy looked more like a little Man-In-Black). I read on the message boards someone’s theory that perhaps it is a new Jacob “growing up” and is a reminder to Smocke that his time is running out until Jacob catches up with him? Now that doesn’t quite make sense, but I like the idea of the boy’s quick aging being some type of warning to Smocke. He is obviously visibly annoyed with the presence of the kid.

I wonder why Desmond was cool as a cucumber when it was so obvious that Smocke was going to push him into the well. Desmond clearly knows so much more right now than anyone else, I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

ALT Desmond’s gone all Jacob on us, tracking 815′ers down and trying to help them find their destiny. But how awesome was it to see him RUN LOCKE OVER?? I didn’t see that happening, but after seeing what Locke does to Desmond it’s no wonder My husband caught this one: When Desmond is sitting in his car stalking out Hurley & Libby, the license plate on his car is 4PCI264. When Des runs over Locke in the school parking lot, the license plate is 2FAN321. It could be nothing, but really, the prominence of the license plates in both scenes was very, very obvious. I don’t think stuff like this passes by the producers of the show.

My favorite part is Smocke barely caring about the return of Frank, Sun, and also Hugo, but boy, is his eye laser-focused on Jack. “Hello Jack”…he doesn’t even mention the others! I love the Jack/Locke rivalry, so it’s good to see that it will probably still come down to these two splitting sides. Oh wait, another favorite part, the previews for next week playing to that creepy Gene Wilder-Willy Wonka tripped out music. YES LOST, there really is no earthly way of knowing which direction this is going!!

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! If you are blogging about Lost then leave your link as well so I can come and check out your post

If you are not caught up on Lost, cease and desist from reading this post as you will be spoiled!

Dang. This episode pretty much exploded my alternate timeline theory that what we’ve been seeing in the ATL is what ultimately happens. Instead it’s this trippy, slipping in and out of timelines mind-bender. I’m not quite so sure how I feel about this episode, it was cool and reminiscent of “The Constant” and it was great to have a full Desmond-centric episode, but it also seemed so full of meaning that we will only really “get” at the end of the series.

No “previously on Lost” was good, it’s about time they stop showing that non-sense and just get right into the episode. If you haven’t caught up, nothing will probably make sense to you any way No obnoxious on screen V reminder was also a plus.

Last week I immediately thought I heard Keamy mention the island to Jin during his little speech in the freezer. It’s been quite controversial that he did or didn’t say “island” but I think I’m in pretty good company with believing that he did. Now we know that some Losties are “aware” of their island selves, I think this has a bit more credibility.

It was cool to see that ATL Desmond and Widmore get along so well; poor Des finally got his respect (and a little McCutcheon). When Desmond is summoned to babysit Charlie it was great seeing them together…until Charlie does the creepy unthinkable and drives the car into the bay. I got the chills when I realized we were getting a re-hash of Charlie’s death in the Looking Glass. So it is near death/traumatic experiences that are giving our ATL Losties glimpses of their island lives? Another tie-in with the whole losing consciousness = gaining enlightenment theory?) The way Charlie was walking into oncoming traffic, maybe they can’t quite die in this not-quite-reality, just the way it is on the island for candidates. (Randomosity: the bar where Charlie walks into after getting released from jail? “Jax”)

They lingered way too long on Desmond telling Charlie “there’s always a choice, brother.” Was that some type of foreshadowing for the end of the episode? The way Desmond is perfect calm wanting to go along with Widmore’s plan and then the way he goes along with Sayid makes me wonder what “choice” he will make. I’m sure it is the good choice, since Desmond is pretty much the ultimate candidate, but you know I like to overly read into things and worry. More about this in a sec.

It was nearly impossible to miss the painting of scales in Widmore’s office. I can’t even keep track of little Easter eggs anymore though, when there’s so many huge things to think about…like, Eloise! and Faraday!

Eloise’s face when she sees Desmond is very telling. You knew she knew something right at that moment, but it wasn’t until a couple minutes later that she gets all creepy the way she did seasons ago when she was telling Desmond that he can’t buy the ring. What does she mean “you’re not ready yet?” Because he sure does track Penny down double-quick. I don’t like Eloise and her all-knowing ways.

Finally, this episode is called “Happily Ever After”. Please tell me that Desmond and Penny will ultimately be together and will finally be able to be happy? I don’t know if any Lostie is as mercilessly tortured as poor Desmond and now he has to make some sort of huge “sacrifice”…I’m nervous for him. I mentioned before that I’m nervous for this choice/sacrifice he has to make. I’m hoping it is as ‘simple’ as having to throw some of the Losties under the bus (even die, ahem, Sayid?) to accomplish this greater good.

Some favorite quotes tonight:

At the MRI: “You’re going to need the button” “Button??” “Panic button.” That gave me a little chuckle. Poor Desmond, always fated to be pushing some kind of button

Charlie: “Why are you accosting a man in a dressing gown?”

If you are talking Lost on your blog, please leave me a link in the comments. If you have any theories or thoughts to add, please do leave a comment! I’m totally addicted to having Lost discussions…what am I going to do when this show’s over??

-A quick PS for my husband (let’s see if he even reads this far ) The whole episode I kept thinking that the limo driver, George, was familiar. Marc says “definitely never seen him before”. He is George Minkowski, the guy on the freighter who dies while trying to help Desmond find his constant. Further evidence that I am always right. Just kidding (kind of)

If you are not caught up on Lost, cease and desist from reading this post or you will be spoiled!

This episode wasn’t the best (Like Sayid, I think Sun & Jin make for boring back stories) but it was a good plot pusher & had some great quotes (including one big one I mention at the end of this post).

So the episode starts off with ATL Sun & Jin and they aren’t married. That was a pretty cool twist, it looked like we just had the “old Jin” on the plane (with his “button your shirt” domineering ways), but it turns out he is just trying to keep his romance with Sun on the DL.

Back on the island, we have a good ol’ Frank one liner “Hey…don’t talk about bacon.” It was fun to see Sun in her old garden, and also good to see her temper flare up in frustration. Wasn’t the scene where she wigs on Alpert in Korean the best?

Oh in the garden, Smocke tells Sun “I’d never make you do anything against your will” and yet he’s reaching out his hand to her. Jacob supposedly doesn’t make people do anything against their will either, but his touch does seem to mark the candidates. Not sure what this means, but just pondering that whole free will theme.

How great was it to see Keamy again? I’ve mentioned before how much I love him so it was exciting to see him, the freighter crew and Mikhail(!) again. For those of you who might not remember Mikhail, he was the eye-patch Dharma guy who seemed to have a million lives (until he finally died along with Charlie in the Looking Glass).

Why did Zoe seem to care about the “pockets of electromagnetism” on the island? I know that Widmore needs Jin because he’s a candidate (and also because he holds the sway over Sun), but do they really need to know the electromagnetism info? Maybe that will play in the ultimate demise of the island (leading to it being underwater)…or maybe that was totally obvious

My previous theory that Widmore is actually on team Smocke was wrong, clearly Widmore is on Jacob’s team, which is a relief. It was heart breaking watching Jin flip through the pictures of Ji Yeon. It was when Widmore mentioned his daughter that I suddenly realized that “the package” was probably Desmond. Squee!! I’ve been extremely impatient waiting for him to return, so I can’t wait to see him interact with Widmore, fulfill whatever his “destiny” is on the island, and hopefully get a Desmond in the ATL episode.

I realized in a prior recap I made a mistake and said that Sayid killed Keamy just as he did on the island. Duh, he didn’t kill Keamy on the island, Ben did back in the Orchid Station. Just a little disclaimer

How cute is Jack now that he doesn’t have his Savior complex? It was nice to see that his faith has returned.

There were a bunch of great quotes in tonight’s episode (including a really huge one):

“Why won’t you believe me?” -Ben “Because you’re speaking.” -Ilana

After Sawyer asks Smocke why he needs to canoe to the other island and Smocke says that he can’t just fly over the ocean, Sawyer replies “No, cause that’d be ridiculous!”

After Sun flips on Richard in Korean, Hurley: “I don’t think she wants to come.”

Biggest quote ever & you may have missed it…I had to rewind maybe four times. In the walk-in fridge Keamy is taping Jin up in the chair and he says so fast “I can’t have you hear what’s about to happen to your island.” What?! In the ATL the island is under water and everyone is going on as if it never existed, so to hear someone mention it is *huge*. And “YOUR island”???

Eek! So what the heck does that mean? Can’t wait until next week! If you have any thoughts/comments/theories I’d love to hear them in the comments. And if you’re blogging lost, please leave your link!
